Persian / Farsi Typing Test

Persian relies on the نیم‌فاصله, the zero-width non-joiner, more than almost any other script: it separates parts of a word without letting them join, in plurals like کتاب‌ها and in verb prefixes.

It is invisible, and a scoring engine that treated it as its own character would produce nonsense — inflating character counts on ordinary text and marking errors against something you cannot see. This engine folds it into the grapheme cluster it belongs to, so it is never a standalone scored unit.

Persian writes ک and ی where Arabic writes ك and ي. They look nearly identical and are different Unicode characters.

The corpora here use the Persian forms. A test built on Arabic text would mark correct Persian typing as an error on every one of those letters, which is a surprisingly common way for Persian typing tests to be quietly wrong.

Gross WPM is characters divided by five, per minute. Net WPM subtracts errors per minute, clamped at zero. Accuracy is correct characters over everything typed, computed at the end from a log of what you produced.

The result breaks errors down per character. One, three or five minutes; common words or paragraphs; finishing early allowed and scored against the time you spent. On a phone the Persian keyboard drills teach the layout instead.
