Scored by grapheme cluster, so a letter and its marks count as the one character you actually typed. Use your own Hebrew keyboard or our on-screen keyboard.

WorldTyping’s free Hebrew typing test measures your speed and accuracy in Hebrew, treating the five word-final letter forms as the distinct characters they are — no installation, no account, and nothing leaves your browser.

The final forms are scored as different letters

Five Hebrew consonants change shape at the end of a word: כ becomes ך, and likewise ם ן ף ץ. They are separate Unicode characters rather than a styled variant.

So typing the ordinary form at the end of a word counts as an error here. That is deliberate — it is the single most common mistake people make typing Hebrew, and a test that let it pass would be measuring something easier than Hebrew.

Worth noting the contrast: on the English to Hebrew typing tool the final forms are applied for you automatically. Here you have to know them.

Unvocalised, because that is how Hebrew is written

The passages carry no nikkud. Newspapers, email, signage and messages are all unvocalised, so this measures the writing you would actually do rather than a liturgical or teaching form almost nobody types.

It also keeps the score comparable: a run against vocalised text would measure a different and much rarer skill.

How the score is built

Gross WPM is characters divided by five, per minute. Net WPM subtracts errors per minute, clamped at zero. Accuracy is correct characters over everything typed, computed at the end from a log of what you produced.

One, three or five minutes; common words or paragraphs; finishing early allowed. The per-character breakdown at the end usually points at the final forms. On a phone the Hebrew keyboard drills teach the layout, which is what transfers.

On a phone?

A touchscreen will not build typing speed, but it will teach you the layout. The Hebrew keyboard drills practise where each Hebrew letter sits, a few taps at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Is typing כ instead of ך at the end of a word an error?

Yes. Hebrew's five final forms — ך, ם, ן, ף and ץ — are separate characters, not styling, and a word that ends in the ordinary form is misspelled. The test counts it, which is the point: it is the most common mistake when typing Hebrew.

Do I have to type nikkud?

No. The passages are unvocalised, which is how Hebrew is written almost everywhere. You are scored on the consonants, not on vowel points you would never type in a message or a document.

Does right-to-left text affect the scoring?

No. Direction is a display property; the characters are compared in the order you typed them. What you see running right to left is scored the same way any other script would be.

What do gross and net WPM mean?

Gross WPM is characters typed divided by five, per minute. Net WPM subtracts errors per minute and never goes below zero. Accuracy is correct characters over everything typed.

Are my results saved anywhere?
