Arabic Typing Test

The passages carry no harakat. That is not a shortcut — it is how Arabic is written everywhere except children’s books, language teaching and the Quran.

A test that demanded fully vocalised text would measure a skill almost nobody uses and would make the speed figure incomparable with any real writing you do. Typing a message, an email or a document means typing undiacritised Arabic, and that is what this measures.

Arabic letters take different forms at the start, middle and end of a word, and joining is one of the first things that makes the script look intimidating. For scoring it is a non-issue: those forms are how the font draws one character, not several characters.

You type the letter; the test compares the letter. The engine also normalises both sides to NFC and segments by grapheme cluster before comparing, so nothing about how the text is composed changes what counts as a hit.

Gross WPM is characters divided by five, per minute. Net WPM subtracts errors per minute, clamped at zero. Accuracy is correct characters over everything typed, all computed at the end from a log of what you actually produced rather than accumulated live.

The result breaks errors down per character, so you finish knowing which letters cost you. One, three or five minutes; common words or paragraphs; finishing early allowed. On a phone the Arabic keyboard drills teach the layout, which is what transfers to a real keyboard.
