Gujarati Typing Online
Basic phonetic engine — the common-word dictionary for this language is growing. Spell tricky words out phonetically (long vowels written double).
Autosaved in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored on our servers. Voice recognition is handled by your browser/device provider; WorldTyping never receives your audio.
WorldTyping’s free Gujarati typing workspace lets you write Gujarati in your browser by typing with English letters or dictating, then count, copy, download or share the result — no installation, no account, and nothing leaves your browser.
How to type in Gujarati
- Type Gujarati words phonetically in the left box using English letters — for example kem chho.
- The Gujarati script text appears instantly in the right box: કેમ છો.
- Copy it, share it, download it, or print it.
Examples
| You type | You get |
|---|---|
| kem chho | કેમ છો |
| aabhar | આભાર |
| saru | સારું |
| gujarati | ગુજરાતી |
Draft, then place the anusvara
Type Gujarati the way it sounds and the script appears as you go — kem chho gives કેમ છો. Fast, and right most of the time.
The exception is the anusvara ં. Neither fast route produces it: typing hun gives હુન, unnasalised, and dictation drops it because there is barely any sound to hear. It changes the word in writing, so it is not something to leave out.
The workable habit is to draft here and then place the marks on the Gujarati keyboard, where ં sits in the vowel-signs row alongside ળ.
Double the long vowels as you type
gujarat gives ગુજરત; gujaraat gives ગુજરાત, which is the word. Nothing in casual Roman spelling records vowel length, so doubling is how you supply it.
Getting into that habit while drafting removes most of the corrections before they happen. It is the single highest-value thing to learn about typing Gujarati phonetically.
Counting, copying, and getting it out
A live count sits under the output — words, then total characters. The action bar copies the Gujarati text, and More gives you a .txt download, print, and sharing straight to WhatsApp, Telegram or email.
On a phone the output is pinned to a strip at the bottom of the screen with its own copy button. Your draft autosaves in your browser and nothing is uploaded, so you can close the tab and pick it up later.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add the anusvara?
Tap it on the Gujarati keyboard — ં is in the vowel-signs row. It is the one mark neither fast route produces: type hun here and you get હુન without it, and dictation drops it too because it is barely audible. Draft the text, then place the marks.
What is the difference between this and the English to Gujarati typing page?
Same tool, different framing. This page is about the workspace — writing, dictating, counting, exporting. That one explains the conversion: why gujarat gives ગુજરત and gujaraat gives ગુજરાત.
Why did a word come out missing a vowel?
Almost always a long vowel typed short. Double them — aa, ee, oo — and most of it resolves. Roman spelling records vowel length nowhere else, so the tool cannot infer it.
Can I dictate?
In Chrome and Edge, yes — a microphone appears in the input area. It is worth knowing that the button only renders where the browser supports speech recognition, so on a browser without it you will simply not see one. Gujarati speech mixes English heavily, so expect loanwords to come back in Latin letters inside an otherwise Gujarati sentence.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion happens in your browser and your draft is autosaved locally. Nothing reaches our servers, and voice recognition is handled by your browser’s own provider.
