Autosaved in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored on our servers. Voice recognition is handled by your browser/device provider; WorldTyping never receives your audio.

WorldTyping’s free English to Gujarati typing tool converts Gujarati words written in English letters into Gujarati script as you type — no installation, no account, and nothing leaves your browser.

How to type in Gujarati

  1. Type Gujarati words phonetically in the left box using English letters — for example kem chho.
  2. The Gujarati script text appears instantly in the right box: કેમ છો.
  3. Copy it, share it, download it, or print it.

Doubling long vowels is the whole trick

One example does most of the teaching here. Type gujarat and you get ગુજરત. Type gujaraat and you get ગુજરાત — the actual word.

Nothing in casual Roman spelling records vowel length, so the tool cannot infer it. aa, ee and oo are how you supply it, and doing so fixes the large majority of words that come out nearly right.

You decide where the anusvara goes

The anusvara — ં — marks nasalisation that changes the word in writing while being light in speech. Being direct about a limitation: transliteration does not produce it. Type hun and you get હુન, unnasalised.

So the anusvara is a tap, not a keystroke. It sits in the vowel-signs row of the Gujarati keyboard, and the workable habit is to type the word phonetically and then place the mark yourself. That is still better than dictating, where the recogniser drops it and gives you no way to put it back except editing.

Known words are exact; the rest is rules

A short list of common words is stored as exact spellings — kem chho gives કેમ છો — and everything else is converted by rule. Greetings and everyday vocabulary are reliable; names and technical terms are approximations worth checking.

For a letter the rules will not produce — the anusvara, or ળ — the Gujarati keyboard has them on screen. Everything runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my word come out missing a vowel?

Almost always because a long vowel was typed short. gujarat gives ગુજરત; gujaraat gives ગુજરાત, which is the word. Roman spelling does not record vowel length, so doubling — aa, ee, oo — is how you tell the tool which vowel you meant.

How do I add the anusvara?

Tap it on the Gujarati keyboard — ં is in the vowel-signs row. Transliteration does not produce it: type hun and you get હુન, without the nasalisation. So for words that need an anusvara, type the word phonetically and then tap the mark where it belongs.

Is this a translator?

No. It is transliteration — it converts sounds into Gujarati script. Type Gujarati phonetically and you get Gujarati; type English and you get English spelled in Gujarati letters.

Do word endings drop their vowel?

Yes. Gujarati follows the Indo-Aryan pattern of deleting the final inherent vowel, so words end on a bare consonant rather than a written virama. The tool applies that automatically.

Can I paste the Gujarati text into WhatsApp or Word?

Yes. It is standard Unicode Gujarati, so it pastes into WhatsApp, Word, Google Docs, Gmail or a web form with no font to install.
