Telugu writes the final virama
Languages written in Devanagari delete the vowel at the end of a word and leave a bare consonant. Telugu does not — it writes the consonant with a virama underneath. So kalam becomes కలమ్, and namaskaaram becomes నమస్కారమ్.
The tool applies the Telugu rule automatically. If you have typed Hindi before and the ending looks unfamiliar, that is the difference — and it is the correct one here.
Doubling is how you say which vowel you meant
meeru gives మీరు. meru gives మేరు. Those are different words, and Roman spelling only tells the tool which you meant if you double the long vowel.
aa, ee and oo are the ones that matter most. It is the single habit that most improves what comes out.
Aspirates take an h, clusters take care of themselves
Add an h for the aspirated series — gh for ఘ, kh for ఖ, th for థ. Consonant clusters are stacked for you as you type; there is no separate step.
Beyond a small dictionary of common words the engine works from rules, so rarer words and names are approximations. For anything it will not give you, the Telugu keyboard has the full set on screen, and everything stays in your browser.

Common problems
- A word comes out with the wrong spelling — try typing it phonetically a different way, or edit the output directly.
- Vowel length changes meaning — write long vowels double ("meeru" not "meru") for correct results.
- Retroflex vs dental consonants can be ambiguous from English spelling alone — the on-screen keyboard helps for exact letters.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my word end with a mark under the last letter?
That is the virama, and it is correct Telugu. Where Hindi drops the final vowel and writes a bare consonant, Telugu writes the consonant with a virama — kalam becomes కలమ్. The tool applies the Telugu rule, not the Hindi one.
How do I write long vowels?
Double them. meeru gives మీరు with the long ee, while meru gives మేరు — a different word. Telugu vowel length changes meaning, and doubling is how you tell the tool which one you meant.
How do I type the aspirated consonants?
Add an h. gh gives ఘ, kh gives ఖ, th gives థ and so on. Without the h you get the plain consonant, which is usually what you want.
Is this a translator?
