Frequently asked questions
How do I add matras to letters?
Click a consonant first (like क), then click a matra (like ा) — they combine automatically: का. Use the halant key (्) between two consonants to make conjuncts like क्त.
Do I need to install a Hindi keyboard or font?
No. This keyboard works in your browser on any device. The text is standard Unicode Hindi, so you can copy it into WhatsApp, Word, email — anywhere.
Is phonetic typing faster than an on-screen keyboard?
Usually, yes. If you know how Hindi words sound, try our English to Hindi Typing tool — type "namaste" and get नमस्ते. The on-screen keyboard is best when you need a specific character or don't know the Roman spelling.
