The known-word list is short, and it shows
Of all the scripts here, Odia has the smallest list of exact spellings behind it. That is worth stating plainly, because it changes how you use the tool.
odia is on the list and gives ଓଡ଼ିଆ, correctly, including the flapped ଡ଼. A near-miss like odiaa falls through to the rules and gives ଓଦିଆ — a faithful reading of those letters, and the wrong word.
So: type the plainest, most ordinary spelling you can. It is the one most likely to be recognised, and the gap between a hit and a miss is wider here than for the larger languages.
The dotted letters are worth reaching for directly
ଡ଼ and ଢ଼ carry a subscript dot that Roman spelling gives the rules no way to predict, so they appear only in words on the stored list — odia is one. For anything else they are a tap: both, and ଳ, are in the consonant row of the Odia keyboard.
Double the long vowels

Why does one spelling give a much better result than another?
Because Odia has the shortest list of exact spellings of any script here, so most words go through the rules. odia is a known word and gives ଓଡ଼ିଆ; a variant like odiaa falls through to the rules and gives ଓଦିଆ, which is what those letters literally say. Try the plainest spelling first.
How do I get ଡ଼ and ଢ଼?
Tap them on the Odia keyboard. They are the flapped letters written with a subscript dot, and the rules will not produce them from Roman spelling — they appear only in words that are on the stored list, like odia itself. For anything else, the keyboard is the route.
How do I write long vowels?
