What these drills are for
Most Tamil typing practice assumes a physical keyboard. On a phone the useful thing to practise is different: knowing where each letter sits, so you stop hunting for it. These drills ask you to find a letter on the layout, then to name a key from its position — the two directions that make a layout stick.
When the positions feel automatic, move to the Tamil typing test on a physical keyboard to build actual speed, or open the Tamil on-screen keyboard to type something real.
Frequently asked questions
Will these drills make me type faster?
No — and nothing that runs on a touchscreen will. Drills build layout memory: knowing without looking where each Tamil script letter lives. Speed comes from practising that memory on a physical keyboard, which is what the typing test is for.
How does it decide what to show me?
Each key sits in one of five boxes. Answer correctly and it moves up a box and comes back later; miss it and it drops to the first box and returns straight away. Your progress stays in this browser — no account, nothing uploaded.
Do I need a Tamil keyboard installed?
No. The drills are tap-only, so they work on any phone as-is. Installing the keyboard is what you do next, once you know the layout.
