How to type Russian without a Russian keyboard
You don't need to install a Russian layout or memorize ЙЦУКЕН. Type Russian words by sound in English letters — “privet” becomes привет in the box above — then follow the steps below.

Steps
- Type a Russian word phonetically in English letters — “privet” gives привет.
- Use standard romanizations for special letters: “zh” for ж, “ch” for ч, “sh” for ш, “shch” for щ, “yu” for ю, “ya” for я.
- Watch the Cyrillic output as you type and adjust spelling where a letter looks wrong.
- Copy the Russian text into your chat, email, or document.
Common problems
- The soft sign ь or hard sign ъ is missing.
- Type an apostrophe (') for the soft sign where the word needs it — for example “den'” for день.
- You typed “e” but the word needs э or ё.
- Russian has several e-sounds. Respell with “eh” for э; for ё try “yo” — or edit the output text directly.
- Cyrillic shows as boxes or question marks after pasting.
- The destination app or font lacks Cyrillic support. The text itself is standard Unicode — switch to a common font like Arial or Noto Sans.

Frequently asked questions
Is this translation from English to Russian?
No — it converts the sounds you type into Cyrillic letters. You still write Russian words; the tool just saves you from installing a Russian keyboard.
Will the Russian text work in Word and WhatsApp?
Yes. The output is standard Unicode Cyrillic and pastes correctly into any modern app.
