How to type Bengali without a Bangla keyboard
Write Bangla with your normal English keyboard: type each word the way it sounds and the Bengali script appears above — “tumi” becomes তুমি, “dhonnobad” becomes ধন্যবাদ.

Steps
- Type a Bengali word by sound in English letters — “tumi” gives তুমি.
- Write long vowels double (“aa”, “ee”) so the correct vowel sign (kar) is chosen.
- For conjunct letters (juktakkhor), type the consonants together without a vowel between them.
- Copy the finished Bangla text into WhatsApp, Facebook, or your document.
Common problems
- A juktakkhor (conjunct) doesn't form correctly.
- Try respelling the cluster phonetically, or use the Bengali on-screen keyboard page for exact control over individual letters.
- The wrong vowel sign appears.
- Double the vowel for its long form — “i” and “ee” produce different kars.
- Bangla shows as boxes after pasting.
- The destination app lacks a Bengali font. The text is correct Unicode — use a font like Noto Sans Bengali or SolaimanLipi.

Frequently asked questions
Does this work for both Bangladesh and West Bengal Bengali?
Yes — the output is standard Unicode Bangla script, which is the same for both. Type the words as you pronounce them.
Is this Avro-style phonetic typing?
It follows the same phonetic idea — English letters in, Bangla script out — but runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install.
